When I think about what life will be like without Mum, it is hard to imagine. At the age of 103, she has been a part of our lives for so long and we have always had someone there who, through age and experience, seemed always older and wiser. Growing up in London with grandparents in Somerset and Scotland, our parents were the ones who were always there for us and latterly with Mum on her own in Cornwall, it became even more important to keep in touch. We will have so much to remember Mum by and this quotation sums up for me the legacy that she has left to us and to so many that knew her. “What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” Thucydides Celia.
